The (Unexpected) Gift for Mama

Alhamdulillah, Aidiin has fully recovered from his dot-dot disease after about 2 weeks. Make that 17 stay-at-home days, to be exact. Although he seemed happy staying home spending his waking (and sleeping) hours with his railway buddies, deeeeeep down, I think he misses school. Sampai mengigau lagi, "Teeeaaacher, Akif conteng dindiiiiing." Dalam mimpi pun sempat nak report kat cikgu lagi tu. One time he recited the entire surah Al-Ikhlas, with eyes still closed.

He started going back to school 2 days ago. I am re-tuning and re-adjusting to my new (or old?) routine.

Alhamdulillah juga, I think Sofea managed to 'escape' the dot-dot disease. Which has its pros and cons lah. I've been told by many that it'll be better for her to kena time kecik-kecik ni (which I do not disagree with) sebab senang nak baik, especially if ada scars. Since she escaped *this* time, this would imply that she might catch it later in life, despite being vaccinated and all.

But then again, catching chicken pox now would result in her having to miss school for at least 2 weeks, which means she'd be missing her exams both in KAFA and sek keb. Her KAFA exams started on Monday (May 5) and she'll be sitting for her last paper (Akhlak) tomorrow. The exams in SKBeeJay will begin the week after next. So, in a way, I am glad and very very thankful that she's chicken pox-free for now.

Unfortunately, my mother has been infected by the chicky pox virus, which she'd gotten from none other than her t'was dot-dot grandson. Sian my mom. She's got huge spots all over her face, scalp, body, hands, legs. Bukan dot-dot yang comel-comel pulak tu, but those big pimply and berair ones. *sigh* She's got fever on and off. She complained about throbbing headaches and feeling nauseous, loss of appetite and body pains all over. Sakit badan rasa 'berbisa', she said. *double sigh*

I do feel sorry for my mom. Dan sedikit guilty juga for this unplanned mothers' day 'gift'. I pray that she'll be strong to get through all the sengal-sengal, bisa-bisa and gatal-gatal, and I pray that she'll recover soon. She told me she'd had chicken pox before, but siapa sangka dia nak kena sekali lagi, kan?

Arrrghhh. Sungguh pening kepala makcik. Dengan my mom sakit, dengan exams and Sofea's upcoming birthday (kena postpone-lah party dan celebration segala nampaknya).

Pada masa-masa tensi seperti ini, I would try to remind myself to be thankful for all the blessings that Allah has bestowed so far, on me and my family.

And I would take time to stop and smell the roses.





In case I am not able to get online before Sunday, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all mothers everywhere...

kesian your mother...tapi benda nak jadi.. hope you don't keep blaming yourself.

if she's got chicken pox before it's probably shingles from her old virus. not from aidin.

chicken pox virus (varicella/herpes zoster) tu perangai dia camni... mula2 kena masa kecik tu dia menyorok dormant dalam badan kita. bila makin tua, immune system kita tak berapa kuat cam masa muda dulu, virus tu keluar balik buat pasal. semua orang yg pernah kena chicken pox ada risk develop shingles masa tua and selalunya lagi teruk kalau tak mkn ubat cepat2. dah bawa dia pi doctor kan?

alhamdulillah sofea tak kena. lagi pening kepala you nanti kan. but thumbs up for you for nursing aidin for 17 days!! sungguh penyabar :)

aliya: yelah, dah takdir kan? i told my mom better kena now (although kali ke-2) daripada masa lain, like time adik i nak kawin ke. or time nak gi vacation ke. tapi kesian lah, kena time tua ni, macam semua penyakit nak ambil kesempatan untuk attack dia sekaligus.

dah bawak doctor dah, yes. bila dia cakap dia rasa feverish and ada 3 spots kat perut i dah suruh my dad bawak pi doctor.

i am THANKFUL that sofea tak kena sekarang. my sister pun belum kena (she stays with my parents) and she managed to escape dah 2 kali dah. masa i kena dulu, dia selamat. masa aidiin kena, dia selamat. tak taulah if dia can avoid kena jangkit this third time (from my mom).

17 hari itu sungguh mencabar. talk about true colors, masa tu macam-macam kaler dah keluar hahaha. i am glad it's all over.

Mine was bad mmg rasa bisa, I felt my face burning. I think vit e oil will be great for mothers day :-) for your mom after dah kering segala. It really helps.
Yeah...pksr time semua hhold bekerja keras.

it's true, time anak2 sakitlah yang betul2 menguji keimanan kita as moms. And you are right to about being thankful. I also blog about the same thing.

Sian your mom. Eh ye ke bley develop shingles later? Isk i dah kena few times actually dunno if the same strain ke. Arwah Nek kata benda ni ada 7 beradik. Campak, shingles tu memang termasuk. Tak ingat la apa lagi 5.

alaa takutnya..i dah kena 2 kali..tapi betulla cakap u baik kena masa sekarang then later..like masa adik u nak kawin :) (ehh adik u dah nak kawin ker???) n i teringat kakak elisa dpt chic pox masa wedding..

i think when we are being tested like this..masa anak2 sakit, it's also time to count our blessings, the ups n downs..hemm..

ehh..we're off to italiannies shortwhile..we'll be thinking of you..next time ada lagi, we'll call you up :)

rotidua: yeah, aidiin pun must've gotten it from school. cikgu dia cakap ramai budak kena, especially area-area situ. pasal shingles kena tanya FD. doktor aliya sila jawab.

adik i belum nak kawin, tapi kot-kotlah next year ke. tak ke masalah kalau mak i chicken pox time tu pulak.
